'Backstairs Billy's' Momentos Go On Sale

When William Fallon - known as 'Backstairs Billy' - died, his house was found crammed full of royal memento's. The steward to HM The Queen Mother collected vast amounts of royal memorabilia during his time with the royal family and it's now all going up for sale.

Mr Fallon who died seven months ago from a lung disease, was living in a grace and favour property owned by Prince Charles in Kennington, South London.

Amongst the collection are letters written by Princess Diana, thanking him for his kindness when she stayed at the Queen Mothers residence Clarence House, the night before her wedding. Another details the progress of her new baby, Prince Harry. There are also portraits of the Queen when she was Princess Elizabeth and her sister Princess Margaret. Also up for sale are notes from Prince Charles, and Mr Fallon's beloved employer the Queen Mother.
